![]() As most of you know I am currently enrolled in the Mobius School and we are studying "The Chemistry of Essential Oils Made Simple" by Dr. David Stewart. This book is breaking down the schools of thought on essential oils and explains the constituent of each oil. Even though it sounds complicated Dr. Stewart is making it easy to understand. I also have the dvd's of Dr. Stewart teaching the class so that is helping me immensely. One of the sections explains the three different schools of aromatherapy German, English and French. Like all things people have varying beliefs on the use of essential oils. The German school believes that inhalation is the best way to receive benefit from essential oils. When breathing the oils in thru a diffuser or opening the bottle and smelling the oils the molecules are directly sent into the bloodstream as well as the olfactory nerves in the central brain. The English believe that massage is the best way to receive benefit with a 2-5% ratio of essential oils and a carrier oil. Carrier oils are the fatty oils like coconut, almond, or a V-6 oil (vegetable oil). The French method emphasizes taking the oils internally, inhalation, thru the skin or thru the body orifices. To be able to use the oils in the manner that the French suggests you must use therapeutic grade essential oils. Therapeutic grade oils should be bottled directly from the still and none of it constituents removed from the oil and nothing added. I love questions please feel free to contact me.
